One of the great things about living in the 21st century is the fact that you don’t need to settle for missing teeth. Thanks to modern dental technology, gaps in your smile can be a thing of the past. More than 3 million Americans are already reaping the benefits of dental implants. The day of your dental implant surgery will be exciting, but it pays to be prepared ahead of time. By taking the following steps, you will be all ready to receive your dental implants in Lansdale.

Stay Informed

When you go to the dental office for your consultation, this is a great time for you to ask any questions that you may have about your upcoming procedure. Don’t be afraid to ask them, even if you think that they sound silly. Being well informed is an important part when it comes to making decisions about your smile. This may also help you to feel more relaxed when the day of your surgery comes around. Your dentist is happy to answer any questions you have, even if they seem small or insignificant.

Plan Ahead of Time

Having a plan will help you to feel more relaxed the day of your surgery, and rightfully so! You will have less to worry about. If you know that you are undergoing IV sedation for your placement procedure, arrange for a trusted family member or friend to drive you home afterwards. If you have younger children, be sure that someone else will be there to help you care for them when you are recovering. You don’t want to feel overwhelmed and need to get plenty of rest during this time. Schedule a few days off of work so that you have time to bounce back.

Follow the Pre-Op Instructions of Your Dentist

Most importantly, you need to closely follow any pre-op instructions from your dentist. For instance, if you are having IV sedation, your dentist will ask you to fast before your scheduled surgery to avoid complications. You may be asked to take certain medications, like antibiotics or pain relievers, before the procedure. It is a good idea to have some post-surgical foods ready for after the surgery. This includes softer foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, pudding, and applesauce.

Set yourself up for a comfortable, smooth recovery period by being prepared. This way, you will be back to your busy life in no time!
